I am now
a member of the Rehome team - a breed service provided
by the ISCGB to help the current owners, the potential
new owners and, most importantly, the Spinone. Its
wonderful to be able to play a small part in helping
dogs that for one reason or another cannot stay
in their original home.
By working
with Spinone Rehome the dog is dealt with by ISCGB
members who are experienced with the breed and who
understand its needs and characteristics. All the
co-ordinators are volunteers, all are passionate
about the breed, all have owned Spinoni for many
years, and all own more than one Spinone, so the
dog/s will be in capable, caring hands.
If you have
a Spinone you must rehome, or if you wish to take
on an older Spinone (rather than a puppy), make
contact with Spinone Rehome and you will be given
all the help and support available to make the transition
as straightforward as possible for all concerned.
The process should, in 99% of cases, mean only one
move for the dog, from current to new home, and
avoids the upsetting and unsettling 'in transit'
situation of a rescue centre.
You may like
to have a look on the 'Italian Spinone Club of Great
Britain' website (see links page) – from the
menu go into 'Owning a Spinone' and then 'Rehome'
– where you will find full details of the
service and the relevant questionnaires. Of course,
if you would prefer, you can contact me in the first
instance as I shall be happy to give you all the
help and support that I can.
